Using Noor
Noor is a free app for counting and keeping personal remembrance (dhikr). It runs on your device, keeps your content there, and asks nothing of you in return. It is provided as it is, without warranty. Use it as an aid to your practice, not as an authority on it.
About the religious content
The built-in azkar are drawn from well-known collections of the Prophetic Sunnah, and each carries its source so you can check it. The Quran text, translation and transliteration come from bundled, verified datasets, credited with their editions and licences on the About screen. Quran passages are stored as references — a surah and a range of verses — and the text is resolved from those datasets when it is displayed, so what you read is the verified text and never a copy typed by hand.
Where a virtue (fadl) is shown, it is a narrated reward reported in the sources, quoted with its reference. Where none is shown, none is claimed. An unnarrated reward is a fabrication, so a blank virtue is deliberate and is the normal state.
Nothing in this app is generated. No scripture, no narration and no religious claim is invented, paraphrased or produced by any automated system.
Content you add yourself
You can write your own azkar and duas, in Arabic or in English, and organise them into sets. That content is yours, it stays on your device, and we neither review nor moderate it.
Please do not type Quranic verses by hand. Use the verse picker instead: it inserts a reference to the verified text, which protects you from the errors that hand-copying invites — a missing letter or a misplaced mark can change meaning. The picker is the only correct way to put Quran into a zikr.
If you add a supplication you heard or read somewhere, you are responsible for what you have written. Verify its wording and its attribution against a reliable source or a person of knowledge.
Corrections
If you find a mistake in any built-in content — a wrong word, a bad attribution, a mistaken virtue — please report it. Corrections are treated as urgent and ship in the next update.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled by your device. If your device is off, silenced, or its battery optimisation stops the app, a reminder can be delayed or missed. Do not rely on Noor as your only prompt for anything time-critical, including prayer.
Backups
Exporting a backup produces a file that you control and place wherever you choose. Restoring one replaces your existing content and progress. Neither action involves us.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, the app will ask you to read them again.
